On June 15th, 2020, the City of Renton with Mayor Armondo Pavone raised the Pride Flag and will continue to do so until the 21st. This is the second year that Renton has flown the Pride flag, and it comes with a small change this time.
The Renton LGBTQIA+ Community gifted a Philly Pride flag to the city which includes a black and brown stripe in addition to the familiar rainbow Pride flag. These colors symbolize Black and Brown People of Color within the LGBTQIA+ community in a nod to the movement for racial justice which has resurged this year.
In addition to the Pride Flag, the city has declared June “LGBTQIA+ Pride Month“.
