On July 18th, 2020, Black Lives Matter protests continued in Renton for another weekend at Liberty Park. It has been 54 days since the death of George Floyd, and protestors continue seeking reforms and justice for Breonna Taylor.
The event in Renton began as a community park cleanup event where drinks and food were provided for volunteers. After the park was cleaned, Renton Residents For Change then proceeded to line up speakers to discuss issues impacting Black and Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) in the region. Speakers included Dr. Linda Smith from the Renton African-American Pastors and Joseph Todd from Renton Residents For Change, among several others.
