On August 10th, 2020, residents called into the City of Renton’s city council meeting to comment on Black Lives Matter issues. This is a continuation of residents putting pressure on the city to make stronger reforms and public displays of support for the Black Lives Matter movement. In addition, last Friday, residents held another weekly protest on the corner of 4th & Duvall and say they will again this week.
Many residents demanded the city paint a Black Lives Matter mural on the streets, saying a wall mural wouldn’t be enough. The Mayor has suggested the city had a commission which was referred to on this request.
