In a video posted to YouTube, the Renton Chamber of Commerce and the Mayor ask for Renton and others to help “chip in” and save local businesses. The entire pot would be worth $500,000.
“If only 50,000 people donate $13.20 that’s over half-a-million dollars we can generate to save our businesses.” Diane Dobson, the Renton Chamber of Commerce president says in the video.
On its second day it has raised nearly $2k, with three months and one week left. Donations are tax-deductible. The beneficiary appears to be an organization named One Eastside whose website states they were formed in response to COVID-19 to provide resources and assistance to small businesses and non-profits.
