Following community backlash after local journalist, Dori Monson, posted a transphobic tweet, the Seattle Seahawks and Bonneville Seattle have indefinitely suspended him. The tweet was created by Monson referencing the gubernational debate held on Wednesday night between Governor Jay Inslee and Sheriff Loren Culp. The tweet has since been taken down.
His anti-gay and anti-transgender views are not new. He has written articles questioning transgender youth events, and given anti-trans protestors a platform on his show. In response to this tweet, local organizations, such as Seattle Pride, stepped in and called for his termination. After the suspension, Seattle Pride asked for an apology and decisive action that shows change of heart, or termination.
We’re calling on @973KIRORadio and @Seahawks to terminate their contract w/ Dori Monson d/t his continued mockery of and attacks on our transgender community.
