Residents Plan March from Southcenter Mall to City Hall

On April 24th, 2021, advocates plan to march from Southcenter Mall in Tukwila to Renton City Hall. The demonstration is in solidarity with Black Lives Matter, Stop Asian Hate, and Protect Trans Youth. It is being organized by the newly-formed Renton Anti-Racism Coalition and advocates for the #Stand4Justice demands that anti-racist residents have been asking the city implement.

The nation continues to undergo protests and other forms of civic engagement demanding action for racial justice in the wake of a surge in hate crimes against AAPI communities and other communities, as well as the continual murders of Black individuals by law enforcement. Protests led by LGBTQIA+ communities against anti-trans bills introduced across 33 states have been ongoing as well.
