Here is this week’s updates from Renton Progress (last week’s updates):
- The City Council approved language changes to the Planning Commission membership which will allow members to reside outside of Renton, if they own a business. This qualification was limited to only two of the eight positions (25%).
- Beginning May 6th, the City of Renton will hold its annual Multicultural Festival. On May 6th from 6PM-9PM it will take place at the Renton Civic Theatre. For May 7th, the event will be located at the Renton Pavillion from 11AM-3PM. The events will feature live performances, cultural dance and music, crafts, and exhibits from artists.
- On Tuesday, April 26th, Kiwanis park was closed to begin construction for accessibility, new restrooms, and new playground structures. The City of Renton expects this work to be completed in December.
- A police officer with the Auburn Police Department reportedly struck a pedestrian in Seattle, resulting in their death while driving under the influence. As a result the officer is a suspect for manslaughter according to KIRO and was arrested Saturday night.
