Here is this week’s updates from Renton Progress (last Renton Weekly):
- The City of Renton has raised the Pride flag again for its fourth consecutive year. Dozens of people attended including Mayor Armondo Pavone, Councilmember Ed Prince, Councilmember Ryan McIrvin, Councilmember Valerie O’Halloran, and Renton’s first openly-queer councilmember, Carmen Rivera. Board directors with the Renton LGBTQIA+ Community attended the event, as well as city employees and residents. Starbucks hosted a booth where they provided refreshments free of charge.
- At the City Council meeting on June 6th, Councilmember Rivera moved to include all-gender restrooms at the Renton Community Center which will be considered by the administration. It was passed unanimously.
- Renton Farmers Market returned this week and will be at Piazza Park every Tuesday from 3pm until 7pm. The last market will take place Tuesday, September 27th.
